Apples, Apples.

So last weekend I decided to go back to the orchard I had visited on a field trip while assisting the Kindergarten class. We had picked Blushing Gold apples and I fell in love. Growing up in Florida left me thinking all apples tasted like absolute nothing. Now that I live in apple country, I find myself getting stomach aches over eating too many!

The orchard has over 23,000 apple tress with about 25 different varieties of apples. They also grow corn, soybeans, pumpkins, watermelons, sunflowers, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and probably a ton more other things. Apparently the owner who is 91 years old, still comes down to the barn (where they sell most of their produce) every morning to work.

All of the awesome apples with the "blush spot" were at the very top but I was too afraid to use the rickety ladder.

Some side of the road photos from the drive home

And a pretty sweet and extremely old looking graveyard

At the end of my picking, I got about 25-30 apples for only $5! And not to mention the 4 pounds of sweet potatoes for an extra $2! Buying straight from the farm is always the way to go.

Pumpkinheads

Late night pumpkin carving! Check out Arnaldo's face! hahaha!

Poor Poof has to wear his sweater since it's always so cold!
The finished products. TnT's haunted house (it's terrible, we know), Katie's awesome screaming face, and Arnaldo's amazing Wolf/Keagan

Katie was such a pro at carving that she did two sides on her pumpkin! Here's her other one
A little too excited...

Happy Early Halloween!!

Some photos & a corn maze

The dog is always a willing subject. Here are my experiments with some filters on my camera.

Eliada Homes annual corn maze. I assumed we'd be lost for hours (especially at night) but it took us a whopping less than 5 minuts to go through the first maze and maybe 10 minutes for the second. They have 10 miles of trails in the corn combined (i think?) They make a big design in it for aerial view. I think it was farm animals this year.

Asheville Zombiewalk!

on 10.10.10 zombies took to the streets of downtown Asheville!

This was Poof's first downtown experience. It probably wasn't the best idea when there are 350 zombies and tons of spectators running around. Poor little guy was terrified.

Hipster zombie. He totally did the wobbly wobbly!

Check out this little guy in the red backpack taking pictures. He couldn't have been older than 10 and he was in the middle of the road facing these monsters head on taking pictures! I wasn't as brave as he was. The zombies loved messing with photographers.

Well he sure met his match with this one!

Creepiest little girl ever.

This is a rare picture. These zombies happened to be the hardest subjects I've ever tried to capture. They were way too fast (which in my opinion is pretty un-zombie like). This only shows the difference it makes when one of them actually stops.

Random

This is what happens when you get caught in constant rain while hiking.

Tom surprised me with an antique rocking chair! I love it!

This is what happens when you let a transplanted Boca Raton woman "trim" your hair. It stops at the end of the picture. She chopped off 3 inches! After nearly a year of not cutting my hair to get it long, I'm back to where I started! This is my distorted sad face.

Pour Isa et Eric, ca c'est mon salon. (hopefully I spelled that right)

Hoot! Hoot! It's Rachel's surfing peace owl about our bedroom window!

My new deona painting that reminds me of Florida :) It's on an old wooden cabinet door.

My dresser with my other deona painting that Tom got me :) and our robot! (P.S. LINDA! there is a new jar on my dresser for RIVERGLASS!!!) I meant to take a close up! The colors are amazing and I think they smooth up a lot faster! I'll send you some!)

Thrift store find that I just couldn't sell on my etsy store. It's too cute for me to give up. Painted on a piece of stone!

From my favorite little after-carer Sophia :) I know she spelled teacher wrong but hey, i'm only the after care teacher so I don't do spelling lessons.

The Poofer.
